Mongolia Presents Regional Transport and Trade Hub Ambition in Vladivostok

Prime Minister N. Uchral told the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok that Mongolia aims to strengthen its role as a regional transport, trade and investment link. He emphasized logistics, energy, technology and human development and placed the agenda within Mongolia's multi-pillar foreign policy. For a landlocked economy between China and Russia, corridor development could reduce delays and support new exports. Realizing that ambition will require coordinated border infrastructure, rail capacity, predictable transit rules and bankable projects rather than diplomatic statements alone. China-Made C919 Completes First International Flight to Ulaanbaatar

Air China operated the Chinese-made C919 passenger jet's first international scheduled service from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar on August 12. The aircraft landed at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, marking a new step in Mongolia-China civil aviation links. Mongolia's transport minister described the service as a sign of deeper connectivity and mutual confidence. The addition raises scheduled flight frequency between the two countries to 28 per week. China and Mongolia Discuss Trade, Connectivity and Critical-Mineral Cooperation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh held talks in Ulaanbaatar on June 13. According to China’s Foreign Ministry, the two sides reviewed their comprehensive strategic partnership and discussed closer coordination of development plans. Mongolia expressed interest in expanding trade and investment, improving connectivity, and deepening cooperation in critical minerals and ecological governance. The ministers also addressed regional and multilateral cooperation. Following the meeting, they signed documents on cooperation between the two foreign ministries and held a joint press conference.

Ulaanbaatar Central Wastewater Treatment Plant Enters Operation

A commissioning ceremony for Ulaanbaatar’s new Central Wastewater Treatment Plant was held on June 15. China’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations described the facility as a flagship China–Mongolia cooperation project built by Chinese enterprises with Chinese standards and technology. Mongolian and Chinese officials attended the ceremony. The official release says the plant is Mongolia’s largest and most advanced sewage-treatment facility and is expected to improve water quality, the urban environment and residents’ quality of life. Mongolian Cabinet Approves Agreement for Second Zamyn-Uud–Erenhot Railway Line

Mongolia’s Cabinet approved a draft intergovernmental agreement with China to jointly build a second standard-gauge railway line at the Zamyn-Uud–Erenhot border crossing, MONTSAME reported. The government also authorized the agreement’s signing. Freight volumes have reached the capacity of the two border stations, which handled 15.5 million tonnes of cargo in 2025. The proposed connection would be accompanied by expansion of Zamyn-Uud station, standard-gauge track and cargo-transshipment facilities.
