Mongolia and Tajikistan Expand Cooperation on Trade, Energy and Transport

The presidents of Mongolia and Tajikistan reviewed more than three decades of bilateral relations during official talks in Ulaanbaatar on July 21. Mongolia’s Presidential Office said the visit produced 11 additional cooperation documents covering trade, education, geology, mineral resources, environmental protection, industry, youth and sports.

The leaders discussed linking Mongolia’s Vision 2050 policy with Tajikistan’s development strategy and pursuing projects in agriculture, renewable energy, roads, logistics and tourism. They agreed to examine more efficient transport routes and reduce regional barriers through the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation program. Tajik hydropower experience, green-transition cooperation and joint value-added production using Mongolian wool and cashmere and Tajik cotton were highlighted as opportunities. Specific investments and delivery schedules will require further negotiations.
