Mongolia's Cabinet established a National Artificial Intelligence Council to coordinate policy, accelerate the digital economy and support the use of AI across sectors. Prime Minister Uchral Nyam-Osor will chair the council, with the ministers responsible for digital development and education serving as vice chairs. Government and professional association representatives will participate. The decision follows more than 30 big-data and AI initiatives included in Vision 2050 and the 2024–2028 government program. The Cabinet created a National Artificial Intelligence Council by amending the resolution that defines Mongolia's national committees, commissions and councils. Prime Minister Uchral Nyam-Osor will chair the body, supported by the ministers responsible for digital development and education.
The council is expected to coordinate AI policy across ministries and work with national professional associations and technology-sector representatives. Mongolia's Vision 2050 policy and the government's 2024–2028 action program contain more than 30 big-data and AI measures. Officials said a national strategy is still needed, citing Mongolia's ranking of 98th among 188 countries in Oxford Insights' 2024 Government AI Readiness Index and a zero score for the presence of strategic planning and policy documents.
