Mongolia Presents National Biodiversity Strategy for 2026–2030
Mongolia presented its National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for 2026–2030 at a COP17 event on improving coordination among the three Rio Conventions. The plan was adopted by government resolution on June 10, 2026, and is aligned with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Mongolia has been a party to the Convention on Biological Diversity since 1993. Its obligations cover ecosystem and species conservation, sustainable use and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits from genetic resources. The presentation moves the strategy into international view, while implementation will depend on budgets, indicators and coordination across sectors.

Mongolia introduced its National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for 2026–2030 during a COP17 side event titled “From Ambition to Action: Strengthening Policy Synergy within Rio Conventions.” The government adopted the plan by resolution on June 10, 2026.
The strategy is designed to align national policy with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Mongolia joined the Convention on Biological Diversity in 1993 and is responsible for conserving ecosystems and species, using biological resources sustainably, and supporting the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from genetic resources. The presentation highlighted policy alignment, but the practical results will depend on funded measures, clear indicators and coordination among environmental, agricultural, mining and local authorities.
