Japan Investment Day brought Mongolian officials, Japanese representatives and businesses together at Mongolia’s Investor Protection Center on February 27. MONTSAME reported that the meeting focused on adding practical economic projects to the countries’ Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity.
Participants discussed using Japanese technology, standards and management expertise in renewable energy, the energy transition, critical minerals, value-added production, agriculture and infrastructure. Mongolian officials presented proposed reforms to investment, permits and economic-freedom legislation. Japanese representatives emphasized predictable tax rules, clearer incentives, regular business meetings and improved equipment-financing and export-insurance mechanisms. The forum was intended to develop opportunities and resolve investor concerns; no final investment contract was reported.
