Average Consumer Prices in Ulaanbaatar Fall 3.5 Percent in a Month
Average prices in the National Statistics Office's weekly Ulaanbaatar consumer basket were 1.6 percent lower than the previous week and 3.5 percent lower than a month earlier as of August 17. Domestic potatoes recorded the sharpest cited decline, falling 10.6 percent to MNT 2,500 per kilogram. Prices for bone-in mutton, boneless beef and bone-in beef also eased. The picture outside the capital was mixed: selected staple foods and fuels rose in some aimags, while meat and milk prices generally declined, according to the agency's survey summary.

The National Statistics Office's weekly price survey found that the average cost of selected consumer goods in Ulaanbaatar was down 1.6 percent from the previous week and 3.5 percent from a month earlier as of August 17.
Domestic potatoes fell 10.6 percent to an average MNT 2,500 per kilogram. The reported average price of bone-in mutton declined to MNT 26,152 per kilogram, boneless beef to MNT 36,611, and bone-in beef fell 1.7 percent to MNT 31,680. Conditions in the aimags were not uniform: flour, sugar, rice, diesel and AI-92 gasoline increased in some locations, while meat and milk prices generally moved lower.
