Nature Foundation and Khan Bank Sign Biodiversity Finance Agreement
The Mongolian Nature's Legacy Foundation and Khan Bank signed a memorandum of understanding at COP17's sustainable finance forum to direct more private capital toward conservation. Their proposed work includes a green-finance model for sustainable pasture management involving herders and cooperatives. The parties will also study the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures framework so biodiversity risks can be considered in environmental, social and governance risk systems. Other ideas include a “Green Card” for environmentally responsible consumption and technical support to borrowers for climate adaptation. The memorandum sets a cooperation agenda; individual products and measurable conservation outcomes remain to be developed.

The Mongolian Nature's Legacy Foundation and Khan Bank signed a memorandum of understanding during the High-Level Sustainable Financing Forum at COP17. The agreement aims to expand the financial sector's role in biodiversity conservation and connect private investment with practical environmental projects.
The organizations plan to explore a green-finance model for sustainable pasture management that can involve herders and cooperatives. They will study the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures framework with a view to incorporating biodiversity-related risks into environmental, social and governance assessment. The agenda also mentions a “Green Card” encouraging environmentally responsible consumption and technical assistance for bank-financed clients working on climate adaptation. The memorandum does not itself specify lending volumes, eligibility rules or conservation indicators.
