A revised Protected Areas Law was submitted to the State Great Khural on August 25. The bill would establish a National Protected Area Network encompassing national and local protected areas, internationally recognized sites and forest and water zones protected under other laws.

The proposal defines requirements for conservation bodies, funding sources and supervision. It introduces an electronic system, management plans and environmental zone councils intended to support local participation. Nature-based and ecotourism activities are included alongside multi-source, results-based finance. Because the measure remains a bill, its final institutional responsibilities, safeguards and funding arrangements may change during parliamentary review.
